Girls Track off to a GREAT start

On Saturday February 13, 2016 Our Lady Flacon’s Track Team set out to defend their title as 4x100 and 4x200 meter Buba Fife Relay Champions. Walking into this year’s Buba Fife Relays, the young ladies knew they had big shoes to fill with the team graduating to dominate seniors last year. The ladies did not back down and answered the call. Not only did the young lading do just that, they also, did great in several other event as well.

In the area of field event, Dominique Nervis placed second in the shot put and Alexis Jackson placed second in the disc. The girls started off great with the Sprint Medley Relay consisting of Evette Griffin, Mya Lloyd, Teasha Lane, and Dazia Davis-Foreman walking away with a third place finish to top off the morning session. Beginning the evening season the 4x100 Meter Relay young ladies consisting of Mya Lloyd, Shauntezz-Marie Austin, Mikayla McLaughlin, and Kenaysia Dixon won the 4x100 Meter Relay tying for number one in the nation with another team who ran the same exact time on the same day at another meet. The 4x200 Relay consisting of Evette Griffin, Shauntezz-Marie Austin, Mikayla McLaughlin, and Kenaysia Dixon also won the 4x200 Meter Relay as well. Defending their title and coming out victorious. Mikayla McLaughlin placed 3rd in the 100 meter dash.

As the season progresses, the ladies will continue to remain humble and work hard.  Staying focused as they embark of the road back to the UIL 2016 State Championship.
