Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity loses 9-4 to Macarthur
Jeremy Syas did all he could to give Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past Macarthur, as Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity lost 9-4 in seven innings on Tuesday.
Syas put himself in scoring position with three extra-base hits for Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity. He doubled in the fifth inning and tripled in the second and sixth innings.
L Coronado recorded the win for Macarthur. He allowed four runs over seven innings. He struck out nine, walked two and surrendered eight hits.
Macarthur's D Leal, E Briseno, K Castillo and Coronado combined for eight hits and seven RBIs.
Kenneth Adams ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed nine runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out six.
Macarthur didn't relinquish the lead after scoring two runs in the first inning when it scored on an RBI double by Castillo and an RBI single by Coronado.
After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fifth, Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity faced just a 6-2 deficit. A groundout by Oscar Padilla and an RBI single by Keelan Wilson set off Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity rally. The Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity threat came to an end when Coronado finally got Adams to strike out.
Two runs in the bottom of the sixth helped Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity close its deficit to 6-4. An RBI triple by Syas and a passed ball fueled Benjamin Davis Falcons Varsity's comeback. Coronado ended the inning by getting Deshan Lewis to strike out.
Macarthur piled on three more runs in the top of the seventh. Leal started the inning with a single, plating Castillo.
