Davis StudentsRecently,  Davis High School theater arts students attended and competed in the Texas International Thespian Society Convention Festival, held in Dallas, Texas at the Omni/Convention Center.  Over 7,000 students from across the state of Texas performed, attended workshops, and competed in a variety of categories. This convention gives students from around the state the opportunity to see, act, perform and bond with like minded performers from all over the state of Texas.   Davis students did an outstanding job representing Aldine ISD, and in the process making history for Davis High School and the Theatre Arts Department.

Davis High School was  able to earn a grant to become a new Charter International Thespian Society Troupe, by the National Organization Educational Theatre Association. As a result, we were able to induct theatre arts students into this Honor Society and have the opportunity to compete at the State Level.  All of our students did an outstanding job in performing in monologue and duet acting competitions.  In addition, all of the students had the opportunity to see and learn from other professional actors and teachers from the state of Texas.

Congratulations to our Duet Acting Team - Remerica Earl, 11th Grade and Dioncia Lewis 10th Grade. The duet performance earned the rank of Superior and will be advancing to the National Competition this summer.  The competition will take place June 19-24 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Our other performers were one point shy of advancing to National level, while earning the rank of Excellent.
