The Air Force JROTC TX-20121 Cadet Corps at General Benjamin O. Davis Jr. High School celebrated at the Basic Airman Skills and Indoctrination Course (BASIC) and Leadership Recognition Ceremony.

After forming up, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Eric Morales recognized those cadets charged with leadership responsibilities by officiating the presentation of distinctive shoulder cords signifying cadet positions.

First-year cadets were recognized for completing seven weeks of BASIC  training designed to teach the critical importance of discipline, teamwork, and knowledge needed to succeed in the Cadet Corps.

Those cadets who excelled with a 90 percent or higher average on test scores received their first “stripe” with a promotion to Cadet Airman. Parents were invited to the formation to “pin on” their cadet’s rank.

This recognition ceremony was a new initiative to establish a more formal process to teach new cadets the fundamentals of the Air Force JROTC program and install the new cadet leaders for the 2019-2020 school year.
