Saturday, October 19th, was an excellent day for the Falcon Band. It was a unique way to say goodbye to “A New Age” marching show. The band earned a Division 1 rating at the Region 33 Marching Contest in Galena Park.
The band has overcome many obstacles that would have caused lesser organizations to fail. According to Rod Soto, headband director, “The perseverance of several key student leaders and the never surrender attitude of the hardworking staff of Nick Draper, Venerson Villanueva, Chris Goodwin, Jeanette Padilla, and Jaime Luna, not even the Yankees could compete.
Rod Soto said, “I truly am feeling relieved, thankful, and blessed. It is a NEW AGE for the Falcon Band!!!” The band is not done for the year. There will be other concerts and performances, but this is the culmination of the Marching season and hours upon hours of hard work and practice for the students and the staff. The UIL contest is always a capstone event for any high school band. Walking away with all 1’s indicates a great accomplishment.
