The Falcons Baseball program is 6 weeks into it’s “Baseball Buddies” mentorship program with Spence Elementary. Spence feeds into Davis High School and everyone is excited about the positive impact it has already started to have on both students and players alike. Mrs. Steward of Davis said, “we are so proud of our baseball team giving back to our Davis community.”
One Spence student said, “I wish it were every Wednesday.” The students always get excited when they see their players walk in through their classroom door. The program happens every other Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to dismissal.
Coach Johnson’s favorite part about the program since it’s inception, is that it is bringing his players together to interact more like a family instead of just a team. His players are grasping their role in the community. “If we don’t invest time to help our community, who will? Baseball Buddies has helped create a better culture for Falcon baseball as we pass the torch to future Falcons at Spence Elementary”, said Senior baseball player Andy Lopez.
The Falcons baseball team will continue their program throughout the entire school year and will adjust the schedule as needed said, Coach Johnson.
