Davis HOSA students will compete in the HOSA Area 6 Spring Leadership Conference this weekend at Barbers Hill High School in Mont Belvieu, Texas. HOSA competitors are encouraged to take advantage of the HOSA Competitive event programs during this leadership conference. Competitive event categories include Health Science, Health Professions, Emergency Preparedness, Leadership, and Teamwork, to name only a few.
One Davis HOSA group/team will compete in the Teamwork category: Public Service Announcement. This team will produce a 30-second visual PSA. The PSA will promote and bring awareness to a health situation or educate the public at large about health and well-being. This year’s event topic: Stop the Bleed, will provide information about a typical response to an emergency situation of an injured person. Standard response time for emergency services is 6-9 minutes, but life-threatening injuries can be deadly in less time.
Anyone can be the difference between life and death of a wounded or hurt person. “Stop the Bleed” is a national awareness campaign to learn life-saving techniques before professional emergency personnel arrives on the scene. Many of these techniques, skills, and practices can save a life.
